The first character who shows negative emotion is Walter. Walter has a very dense character type and is very pessimistic about life. Walter is a drunkard, which does affect his personality toward others. Alcohol is a terrible influence on his life and major decisions. Walter is obsessed with getting money so that he can buy expensive jewelry for his wife, but he actually is driving for others as a chauffeur. The play shares a feeling of negativity because the author, Lorraine Hansberry feels that during that time it was very depressing and the racism made it worse for those who were not appreciated. People currently still have problems because of what it has left on our social quo. Positivity should be a goal for the future of others and it will make a mark on the world today. In the play A Raisin in the Sun it shows a very strong and outgoing family which just needs a little time to realizes this and see what the family is really meant to be
