    1. What is the larger significance of the bargain that Walter Lee makes in A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry? The major difference in Hansberry’s version of the Faustian bargain is that Walter Lee resists the “satanic temptation”, while in other forms, Walter Lee gives into the temptation. Foster states that “Previous Versions have been either tragic or comic depending on whether the devil successfully collects the soul at the end of the work”, but this is not the case for Hansberry’s version.…

Often, he doesn’t listen or attempt to see the other person’s perspective, causing him to have difficulties controlling his temper, inevitably resulting in a tirade. Plot, theme, basic building blocks in all literature,to fabricate a story. A Raisin in the Sun has a simple design, a rising action, a falling action and a climax. Yet Lorraine Hansberry does something different with her story she makes it seem that the climax, the very turning point of a story, takes place in the second scene where in genuineness takes place halfway through the third scene. She wrote it in such a way that the reader is deceived thinking the most critical moment takes place In the middle where usually all stories’ have their climax but instead she just adds a massive spike in rising action that isn’t the climax. She didn't want to make her story bland, Hansberry wanted to show that not all stories have to follow the same plot…

Institutional oppression happens when one group has more power than another group and our institutions (government, schools, media..) favor the more powerful group. One example of institutional oppression in the play was when the organization tried to tell them that they couldn’t live there because they were black. On page 140 it says, “ As I say, that for the happiness of all concerned that our Negro families are happier when they live in their own communities”.…
