A nail technician is an individual who is trained to apply and maintain nail products on natural nails in order to enhance the look of the client's natural nails.
The profession comes with various responsibilities, the main one being education and training. The technician should be educated in natural nail anatomy and the application of the products required, training in client care, contra-indications and health and safety is also vital. It is the responsibility of the technician to ensure they are properly trained and competent as well as confident with applying products as poorly educated and trained technicians is often the cause of damaged natural nails, damage can be caused in several ways by techniques that are not exercised properly
