“An Epidemic of ‘Dead Eyes’ in Kashmir as India Uses Pellet Guns on Protesters” by Ellen Barry explains how protesters in Kashmir are being shot in the eyes by the Indian forces’ pellet guns. This has become so frequent that the Indian prime minister had something to say on it. What I would have guessed that he would say was that he would try to fix whatever problem the protesters were protesting about to effectively stop the increase of shootings. I was very much mistaken, because the prime minister instead said that he would replace the pellet guns with another form of non lethal weapon. I don’t understand why he would replace a weapon with another weapon that could still cause harm. It may not be the eyes that are being shot and severely wounded anymore, but no good will come from any weapon used against protesters. Imagine you had a pig, and your pig kept breaking out of its fencing. Instead of getting a new barricade for your pig so it wouldn’t break out, you instead just tape up the broken part of the barricade, hoping that will fix the escaping issue. It may solve the issue temporarily, but eventually the pig will find another way out, or break the taped fencing. That is exactly what the prime minister did. Instead of actually listening to concerns of the protesters and trying to make the situation better, he is just making a temporary fix for one part of the issue at hand. Again, I don’t understand why humans would flaunt such a thing. All this story represents is violence and suffering. That seems to be the whole of humans and their
