Throughout the last few years, I believe that I have matured and grown into a positive role model and an intelligent young woman, neither of which would have been possible without the lifestyle that I was raised in. I was raised in a southern Baptist family and within my religious views, I have continually watched myself and others around me mature in our walk with Jesus, and watch how interaction with people of the same beliefs can strengthen a person’s religion. My first thought of this class was one like I am sure many of my classmates had, this class is going to be like a church sermon or Sunday School class every week. Before this class, I had heard of the book of Revelation and knew that it was a very touchy subject for many people that are religious or spiritual due to the fact that it is an apocalyptic book. Although I knew some about the book of Revelation, I did not know all that there was to know about this book in particular, and still after learning about this in class, there are many more things to continue to learn about this. In class, I learned that Revelation is an apocalypse, typically written in the times of persecution, and used many images and symbols of an end-time cosmic battle between good and bad. I also learned that there are very diverse interpretations of Revelation. Some people avoid this subject all together because it is hard to understand or scary, while others obsess and try to interpret everything. Before this class, I knew that people obsess over the mark of the devil/Beast and 666. Although I had an idea of what these meant, I was not sure what they represented. The number 666 is known to be an example of gematria, numerical symbolism where letters have certain numerical values that, when added up, equal a number, in this case 666. It is known that 666 is to be equal to the name Neron Ceasar who was not nice, and had a severe persecution of Christians, which relates to the book of Revelation in that both are apocalyptic and deal with times of persecution. Although Revelation was written as a future event and a historical event, it was written for first century persecuted Christians, but is still a future

A special logo for the season has been also released and it has a very cryptic look. Many are saying that the logo is an indication that the season will be about the Anti-Christ as it has an association with the number 6. The real symbolic meaning of the number 6 is actually related with 666, as it is considered to be the sign of the devil and the…

General revelation discloses to all persons, in all times and all places through nature, history and the heart of a person (Psalm 19:1-4; Romans 1:20, Psalm 14:1). Special revelation is revealed to a particular person in a particular time through certain sacred writings (Psalm 19:7-9; John 17:17; Hebrews 1:3; John 2:11). Humans lost their complete and direct special revelation of God because of sin, which also diminished the human comprehension of general revelation. Regaining the general revelation depends on regaining the special revelation through redemptive work of Christ. Thus, direct Bible text, its implications, or inductive conclusions (Truths) have a higher degree of authority than the general revelation or its deductive conclusion (truths) when science contradicts theology.…

    The Great Awakening

The foundation of the Great Awakening was laid out by spiritually sagging puritan and anglican churches from overly complex theological doctrines and compromising of values in order to allow church membership for the purpose of maintaining a steady flow of members. People got tired of overly boring sermons from old fashioned ministers. They wanted something fresh, exciting, and new. More factors that led to the Great Awakening were the increasingly modern and liberal ideas, such as Arminianism challenged traditional church practices. Overall, spirit and zealousness were at an all time low.…

In 1899 Kate Chopin’s The Awakening was released to readers, which is now regarded as a classic in American fiction. Her style consists of strict following of grammar rules and sharp, precise sentence structures, bringing an entirely different feel to her story when read compared to other works of fiction that deliberately cut and switch their choice of words and structures to paint a picture in the reader’s mind. The Awakening contains a strict writing style, a theme of identity crisis, and is an overall very different story for it’s time.…

My passion to be a teacher in the Catholic school system has started a long time ago when I decided the teaching profession was for me. I was just coming out of my Catholic high school and I had made a decision to take a Bachelor of Health Science Degree, in physical education and biology with the end goal to become a high school teacher. It was during this time when I noticed myself asking for help a lot and depending on God’s plan to determine my success. " Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.…

Central to a person’s beliefs and actions lies their worldview. That is, what a person views as real, true, and of value will dictate how a person acts, responds, and views others. More than this, a person’s views in these areas will determine what that person gives his or her attention to and what that person avoids. Whether or not we take the time to analyze each of our beliefs and to determine whether they complement our other beliefs, we have a worldview and act based upon our worldview. Thus, it is important for Christian educators (or really all Christians) to examine their own worldview and ensure that their worldview is based on truth and not on relativity.…

Through the past eight weeks my view of theology has changed significantly. From my prior reflection essay I discussed theology as a word I could associate with my father and his theology degree he had been seeking to finish. After taking this course I realize that the word theology can be associated to much more and I can also have my own views and ideas as to what things might mean. Through the course I enjoyed the in depth study from start to finish and found it easy to start due to us truly starting at the beginning. In church settings it is often discouraging to hear a sermon and have the pastor assume the congregation knows what he is referring to when discussing various books of the Bible.…

For as long as there has even been a theological understanding of the existence of God, heaven and the story of humankind’s beginnings, there has been a conversation about hell. The presence of hell hearkens back to the Old Testament and the concept grows throughout the Bible until the great unveiling of its physical manifestation in the book of Revelation. It is this final understanding of what hell will be that sticks in the minds of many Christians and theologians. In fact, what has been described in the book of Revelation is the basis for the characterization of hell in popular culture and represents imagery that has since persisted through the generations.…

Essay Concepts and abstract thought within counseling, and indeed Christianity in general, needs to become active in our lives. Aside from this, there is little point to studying the concepts, as it all becomes head knowledge, instead of a way of in which we live out our lives. Counseling in the Local Church taught with an aim of taking ideas into turning them into things which fuel vulnerable community within the church. I was affected by the class through the material, the thoughts presented, though did come away with some questions. While there were many readings which piqued conviction and consideration for the subject of church community, it was Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s Life Together which had the greatest impact on my life.…

Their defense is tantamount to sticking a square peg into a round hole (McGrath, 2014). Having a basic understanding of who God is and how He chooses to reveal Himself to all of of creation cannot be overstated. Revelation, in its most simplistic terms is disclosure or some act of unveiling (Enns, 2014, p. 159). Revelation, in the biblical sense, is how God chooses to show himself to mankind and all of creation (Enns, 2014). It could be argued, that without God’s revelation, it would be inconceivable or impossible to experience anything at all.…
