So it can get the reader thinking how they can respond to said feeling of guilt. In the book, it shows the guilt of the women over the death of Ruth May and the things that they have done to Africa. That could be why the story is told in a few different perspectives, so the reader can see how each woman responds to the feeling of guilt.

Richard von Weizsaecker once said “Seeking to forget makes exile all the longer; the secret of redemption lies in remembrance”. Those words apply to exile, but also apply to fear, grief, pain, and most importantly, guilt. Guilt can be like a pond during winter. If you fall in and become trapped, escaping isn't hard. Yet the longer you wait, the colder it gets, then eventually will freeze over.…

In sessions 1-6 we explored The Crucible by Arthur Miller and utilised drama mediums, strategies and elements to expand our understanding of the characters’ mentality, motives and background whilst giving us deeper insight on the prominent themes of guilt, witchcraft, empowerment, reputation, ulterior motives, deceit etc. In session one, we played the blame and shame game where you’re either accused of being a witch or choosing to accuse another. To have the power to blame and shame felt empowering in a psychological sense because in that particular moment , you have the power to decide the fate of someone else even if it 's for the next few minutes, moments or for the rest of their lives in an extreme situation providing a slight emotional…

Of all the feelings a person can feel, there’s but one feeling that can leave us in a state of shock, help us escape reality, commit deeds that we can’t endure, and corrupt our rationality of thinking. This is more commonly known as the emotion “guilt”, which is a feeling one feels after realizing they have done something unspeakable. The theme of guilt is clearly evident in Robertson Davies’ Fifth Business and William Shakespeare's Hamlet. Guilt is particularly used in both narratives to portray the true nature of characters in both narratives, by developing emotional tension in characters, contrasting the type of guilt felt by between characters and is also used to influence their decisions. First, characters throughout their respective novels have different types of guilt they feel and is often contrasted with other characters in the same narrative.…

In the short story “Eleven”, Sandra Cisneros depicts Rachel as a shy and awkward child who is alienated in her social life due to being insecure. Cisneros uses various figurative devices and language to show Rachel’s exterior personality as well as her wise, but arrogant thoughts. Rachel’s lack of dialogue showing her adversity to speaking up and going against the social norms shows the reader that she is insecure about her personality. She is so opposed to speaking against her teacher, an authority figure, that “when [she] opens [her] mouth nothing comes out.” Even after Mrs. Price puts the sweater on her desk she is “feeling sick inside” and then “all of a sudden [she is] crying in front of everyone.”…
