Consequently I understood that without assertiveness, she could not have put through the pivotal laws that made an endless impact on society and motivated me to transfer boldness into future endeavours. History and Politics has prepared me for the rigour of a Law degree, as scrutinising different perspectives and examining source materials has developed my analytical and comparison skills. I am fascinated by how the subjects weave together as History engages with the politics of past societies and demonstrates how politics has developed through time to become what it is today. Interacting with other students has boosted my confidence and excelled my leadership skills. As a result of participating in NCS I have met people who come from different backgrounds, allowing me to appreciate my own values and beliefs, but more importantly have respect for the multiplicity in culture.
My reading on ‘The Killing State’ demonstrates how America still adheres to capital punishment and has enlightened me with the necessity of moral acknowledgement for all citizens. I believe that the symbolic significance of death penalty restricts the laws ability to do justice justly.
