A Personal Experience Of Working In The Healthcare Industry

Recognized author M. Scott Peck once said, “The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.” I like this quote because it speaks to my heart. I am experiencing these issues in my life which are causing me extreme stress. This has been going on for years I had to eventually quit the job. As a result of working in menial jobs in the healthcare industry, I experienced low wages, poor work conditions, and terrible bosses.
I was 18 years old and a senior in high school when I became interested in healthcare.

I did not know low paying wage was starting at 7.25 an hour. I used to give assistance with ADL’S, showers, bed baths, assisted with feeding and eating. I changed some clients depends, and periodically checking on my client. Some of my clients' family appreciate me how I dressed them. I always remind my client to take his or her medication. I made an occupied and unoccupied bed. Making an occupied bed was the worse because the client was in the bed, and the client was heavy and could not move. I had to constantly roll the client back and forth to get the bed made. I really could not complained, 0and it could had been worse. I needed the experience in this healthcare …show more content…
My boss was so mean to me. She knew she could gave me a similar home health case to work at. Some Medicaid home health cases are infestation home health cases. She still put me on some unclean cases. I had to stand up the entire shift without sitting down. I felt bad because some of the cases were elderly cases. The clients wanted me to sit down. I said, “No Thank You!” I dealt with so many weak cases I was just furious. I would not ever want to experience this in my life again. I was miserable and the boss was hateful and mean to me.
