Many women were tired of being oppressed because of their sex and being used by men. Many women came to America as teenagers as indentured servants. Often they were paid poorly and teated horribly. The dangers of black women slave were multiple and they accounted for one-third of the cargo. It was a crime for a women to have a crime out of wedlock while the father was always no charged with anything. During the Revolution women were needed to take care of public affairs. They formed patriotic grips,carried out anti-British actions,wrote about independence. They also organized Daughters of Liberty,encouraging women to not buy British made objects. Between the Revolution and Civil War women were needed to work but at the same time were degraded if they did. It was believed that the women job was to keep the home happy, maintain religio began,nurse,cook,clean.be a seamstress and a flower arranger. They were encouraged to not read a lot and avoid certain books. Women began to campaign for more individual rights and at the same time many spoke against slavery in the country. Even at anti-slavery meeting women were told that they had to sit quietly and only listen. Bush was pushing tax cuts for the wealthy,opposed environmental regulations and wanted to privatize Social Security,and increasing the military budget. He never got a chance to because of 9/11— when two planes crashed into the world trade center and one into the pentagon. This was when America declared a war on terrorism. Congress immediately went to give the President power to go with military action without a declaration of war. Under the belief that Osama bin Laden,an Islamic militant, was responsible for the attacks he ordered the bombing of Afghanistan. Despite the historical evidence that violence would not stop terrorism Bush continued with the bombing for months. The people of America had no way of knowing how many civilians hd died because Afghanistan’s major news company was bombed. The U.S. government wanted to limit the flow of information from Afghanistan. Congress passed the USA Patriot Act, which gave the Department of Justice to detain noncitizen merely under suspicion,with no charges. People against the bombing were arguing that the terrorism was rooted in grievances against the U.S.The American foreign policy was changed—instead of it being a military superpower it would be a humanitarian
