The reading in “A Peace Reader” that I decided to pick is one that is titled “War is no way to start a career.” This story talks about the struggles that veterans go through after they are finished surviving time in the military. They more specifically tackle it after two wars: The Vietnam War and World War 2. After World War 2, Male-Veterans out-earned none veterans by 10-20 percent, but Soldiers from the Vietnam war were out earned by none veterans by the same amount. According to the article, it says that the main reason for this was that employers didn’t want to hire veterans because of the drugs and defeat they had probably been through while at war. The difference between these articles is that the reading from “A Peace Reader” discusses the problems they faced after just past two wars and it doesn’t really address the homeless aspect, but instead focuses on the how they tend to make less money than people who didn’t go into the draft back in the 60’s and 70’s. It also only focused on males. While CNN article completely focuses on the struggles of veterans in terms of homelessness and it focuses on certain people’s personal experience instead of just speaking about it general which helps the reader connect more with the topic. The CNN article also tends to focus not only on homelessness, but also on the mental and physical injuries that they have to do deal with. Personally, I agree completely with the author of the CNN article. I believe that veterans definitely deserve better than what they are getting. The fact that they risk their lives for the American people just to be return home and be treated how they are is completely unforgivable. Personally, I think that there should be a program for veteran that assists them in finding a job after that leave from the military or at least support them until they are able to find a job, but if you go with the second option restrict the amount of time for them to get a job so they won’t take advantage of it. I just think that it’s wrong that people who go out and fight with the possibility of never seeing the people they love again are treated like this. Maybe it’s just me, but the U.S really needs create something to assist in this process. These people do everything to help us so why shouldn’t we do the same for
