A Part Of Wei Ning's Short Story: The Hiver

I told him I didn't want to be a part of Wei Ning's foolery. Although I respected her, she was reckless, even for a titan. Looking it over, the plan was solid on paper, however, there were far too many variables left unaccounted for. Obviously, no respectable warlock had helped plan it, there was very little information on the enemy and it called for brute strength rather than complex strategy or stealth. Regardless, I accompanied him, he wanted it so badly and I loved him more than anything else in this world.

The Hive, a mysterious race of insect-like mages. Guardians overall experienced few issues with them, they had never strayed away from the moon seemingly consumed by their own work. The ritual taking place within that moon always remained a mystery, something I was curious, yet afraid, to uncover. Looking up each night to see the intricate tunnels and temples carved into the surface sent chills down my spine, and conveyed a feeling of trepidation. Despite that, we lived in relative peace with The Hive for centuries, that is until the Titan, Dredgen Yor became corrupted.

Similarly, Vincent found himself absorbed in the Crucible, where he worked to refine his talents as a Gunslinger. Alternatively, I made my way to the archives in the Warlock tower and attempted to consume as much information on the Hive as possible, unfortunately, Toland The Shattered composed virtually all of the previous information found in the archive. Furthermore, when the Speaker banished him many years ago, Toland removed all evidence of his research. Unfortunately, I found myself without acquiring any new data concerning The

Earlier it was described that the queen bees did the bare minimum to get through class and were not interested in reading. However, during an interview with Tiffany, Finders was able to get her to open up about a book the class was reading. Tiffany could recount every detail of the book and connected the book to other texts she had read. Just as the tough cookies denied being influenced, later on in an interview one of the cookies, Cleo, does admit that a subject of a story she wrote was based on the description of a teacher her mother had in school. The identities of these students is so important to them that they actively deny any influences that discredit their values or alter their perspectives.…

Brian Joseph Professor Harmon English 9-2 23 November 2017 Bad Happens to the Well-Intentioned Lord of The Flies embodies many themes, but none is so special as the one that related to me the most. In the 1954 novel, Lord of the Flies, author William Golding uses symbolism, dialogue, irony, and foreshadowing to illuminate the gloomy truth that people who have good intentions and follow what they believe to be right, especially when unpopular, will be misunderstood, misjudged, and sadly, punished. Ralph, Piggy, and Simon fall under the category of “well-intentioned people.”…

Throughout its 239 years of independence, the United States of America has experienced peace, war, and just about everything in between. American culture has evolved significantly since the 18th century, and nothing more effectively represents its centuries of triumphs and tragedies than the literature of American authors. Specifically through short stories, these authors discuss both personal and societal concerns of their times, and simultaneously interweave themes of life, love, and happiness in their works. Three specific authors in American history – Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Sarah Orne Jewett, and Theodore Dreiser ¬– act as “moral purifiers” presenting their case through their creative works that, left up to the reader, may have a positive…

“Yertle The Turtle” Before Dr. Seuss was writing his greatest works, he was employed by the Allied forces in WWII to create cartoons and propaganda films. This background had an influence on him that would show up again and again. Dr. Seuss was often believed to only be writing to entertain children; however, he is actually trying to convey certain messages of political and social issues to his youthful readers. It was important to Dr. Theodor Seuss Geisel that his readers got more from his stories than simple humor and rhyme. An example of this can be seen in the poem “Yertle the Turtle” which on the surface is just a simple children's story but it actually provides information on the culture of the time.…

Kate Chopin’s “The Story of an Hour” and “Desiree’s Baby” has many elements that can be compared and contrasted. These stories share similar characteristics such as time period and the theme of marriage. With these characteristics there are many things that need to be considered in each story such as why the time period is a big deal and what it has to do with the theme of marriage. However, there are some contrasts in the two stories like location and antagonistic motives. These contrasts should be taken into account because they are what make the stories two different stories and not a rewrite of one or the other.…

Depression is another one of those “first-world” problems us humans face as a society. Although it seems like a deathly globe-renowned issue is in mainly todays -mostly in teens- current society, Sue Monk Kidd demonstrates how depression may have affected those over fifty years ago- especially the South-American colored people of the Civil Rights Era in 1964. In The Secret Life of Bees, May, an oddly complex character, changes in the novel because of her depression. May is often portrayed as a very gentle, compassionate and selfless character, who immensely feels the suffering and pain of others on an emotional level because of the death of her twin sister. She changes into a character who is selfish and neglectful as she isolates herself,…

“The Scream” I really like this painting because somehow it involves mystery and insecurity and to my eyes, the rare views in it reflect a sense of how deep the feelings and thoughts of a person can be. In addition, the fact that the composition does not allow viewers to appreciate the face of the screaming person, is what has drawn me to it. Even though it seems to be that it was a lovely afternoon for everyone, it seems that it was not for the scared looking person. Although two boats are seen on the lake and two people walking very pleasingly behind, the scared looking person seems to be astonished and perhaps confused toward something. Hence, looking at this mysterious individual posing his hands on his face with his mouth open has given me the impression that he or she is appreciating something non real that no one else is able to notice; no one but him.…
