A Parody: A Short Story

Improved Essays
I have never laughed so hard in my life. It all started when we were out partying getting drunk and high. It was summer and my parents weren't in town so me and my friends threw a party. Everyone was here from our school even people I didn't know. Thats where it all began.... I met this really cute guy. He was a tall brown hair blue eyed guy. He was so memorizing. The guy took me upstairs and we talked most the night and played truth or dare. I don't remember anything else of that night. The next morning, I woke up not at my house though at some abandoned warehouse tied to a chair all I remember was him from last night. Did I get drugged? How did I get here? Here he came walking around me all proudly like I was some sort of trophy he just got. All I remember was him saying “My, my, my what a wonderful little girl I got here.” I passed out after that. …show more content…
I knew they weren't coming for me though. My parents didn't care they were just workaholics most the time. Maybe my friends will report me missing I doubt it they probably think I got way too drunk and went with some guy home. I mean technically I did but I was forced. Hopefully someone comes looking for me soon. He kept me hydrated and he gave me food. I don't know how long it's been since I was abducted. I prayed each night that someone would come find me. I learned his name was jack. Today I'm gonna try to escape... Over the days I've been here I've been holding onto things that I used during the day like a knife, lighter, and stuff I could use to escape. Each night he left I would pretend to be asleep but I couldn't I was to afraid. He would come back way before I woke up like at 5 or so. Once he left that night and thought I was asleep I got to work. I was tied to a bed at nights so I hid stuff under my pillow. I grabbed the knife and started to get to work with my hands trying to free

If advertisements were compared to side by side, a pattern of techniques to promote the products would start to emerge. Strategies such as having professionals or celebrities endorse the product and getting customers to give reviews for credibility, or using language as a tool to make claims that may or may not be true, sound convincing. “The Onion” parodies these ploys in an article in order to show how pretentious and unreliable adverts can be. To begin with, the article addresses the overused tactic of bringing professionals and customers to explain how well the product works to build up credibility.…

During the 1960’s fear and paranoia had reached an all time high. The nations leader President Kennedy managed the issues regarding the idea of communism spreading and the possibility of nuclear warfare. The Cold War and The Cuban Missile Crisis became the center of the political issues that captured America’s fears. The focus of these two ideals became adapted, in two separate films: Three Presidents Go To War, and the satire black comedy Dr. Strangelove or: How I stopped Worrying and Loved the Bomb. Within the films, one will discover how close Americans came to an all out nuclear war, how Strangelove represented the elements within the United States government that advocated military response, and how Strangelove’s satire could parallel…

I chose the topic of treating schools as if they were prison because I think people do not care about their education anymore. I learned that the goal of satire is to point out the flaws of people or the society with some humor. The most difficult thing about the satire story was pointing out the disadvantage and making it into an advantage. I think I excelled in making an outrageous proposal. I think my finished product was some of my best work because I actually had interest in what I was writing so I put more effort toward…

He stepped closer to me and called me by a name I didn’t recognize then he took a hold of my hand and pulled me deeper inside the house to the backyard. We both stood in front of this large white drape covering a door to the backyard, it had a faint purple pink colors shining through. I looked up at him and he gave me warm smile and he pulled the curtain open and pulled me outside. I looked around in confusion, it was pitch black outside with a faint purple light coming out of who knows where and people dancing and talking without a sense , then I turned and the guy who was with me just dropped to the ground talking in gibberish and just disappeared. Then out of nowhere I was laughing and have a great time, like as if I was watching myself.…
