I completed my site observation on Monday the 19th of October it was a sunny brisk cool day with temperatures hovering in the mid 60’s. The daycare/preschool is on a busy section of route 4 outside East Waterboro. The center is opened from 7 am to 6 pm daily, they cater to a variety of children, before- and after-school program, preschool classes Monday-Wednesday and Friday from 8:30-11:30; and full/ part time daycare children that include ages 18 months to 6 years old. The facility handles approximately forty children, on Monday while I was observing there were three children in the toddler class and seven attending the preschool class at 11:30 one child left and the remainder of the day the class was integrated. The toddler/infant section is located within the main house up two flights of stairs consisting of two steps a landing and four additional stairs with banisters and walls installed for safety. In this section there is a kitchen (stove, sink and refrigerator) one small room for toddlers to play in a large spacious bathroom and down the hall another bathroom that is presently being renovated and two more rooms at the end with cribs and play area for infants. Off of the mud room is a larger room with multiple sections for preschool and toddler age children. There is an area for circle time, trucks and blocks, a table for arts and crafts and lunch, an age appropriate exercise gym is central located for all children to use. Continuing around the room there are books, a computer desk, doll house, and a grocery play area. All supplies are in bins easily accessible to all the children. I did not feel the children were in extreme danger but a little more caution could have been incorporated into the day’s activities. When I arrived the door was opened and I just walked in no one questioned me. During the day children were not accounted for no head counts were performed several times throughout the day it was asked where is this child staff was not always aware of who was where. When we broke into groups for snack kids went where ever they wanted so staff was unable to keep an accurate account of where someone was. Even though there is a door system it is locked by turning a normal door lock I witnessed the children unlocking the door prior to any other staff member. Children were asked to keep their hands off each other but one child who presently is having behavioral issues hit two children that were left with him unattended and no one could figure out what happened and why these children were crying. While outside on the playground none of the children had helmets on and kids were falling off their bikes playing and not hurting themselves but the potential was there and no one suggested a different game. On this day they did not install the fence so the teachers positioned themselves so the children would not head out toward the street. Of course the children tested the boundaries. When the children were informed it was lunch time they just all took off running some were inside some

Introduction: Child development involves emotional, physical, sociable, and intellect changes over a period from conception through adolescence. Childhood is a multifaceted process in which many changes occur. To fully understand the changes throughout childhood, one interview and observation was conducted to a toddler perspective, and a second interview and observation was implemented on a school-age child. Vast changes arise from infancy and toddlerhood, jumping to later childhood, and that was deceptive when comparing the outcomes from the two observations. Alex, who is eight years old, was the topic of the school-age child interview and observation.…

When it came to teaching reading, Mrs. Laura was able to take the book and create different activities for the children to learn. She made it fun for the children to learn. When she created the different activities, she was able to target different goals such as spelling.…

Observation: Rise Program Physical Setting Rise is a beautiful facility. All of the windows looking into the classrooms and looking outside are my favorite because they provide light, openness, and a sense of connection throughout the whole building. The commons is also a great area. It is large and open for all of the kids to spread out and explore their surroundings, while engaging in gross motor activities, such as going down a slide, riding a tricycle, or jumping on a trampoline.…

Introduction: How Children Succed p.xiii&xv In this introduction I was surprised on how they are having three year olds filling out worksheets and completing drills on letter and number recognition (Tough, 2013, p.xiii). I did notice when my son went to transitional kindergarten that what was expected from him was what a kindergarten back then would be learning. When he went to kindergarten he was expected to know more than what I remember was required before.…

The first observation I did was at the Esmelda daycare, this daycare is a family daycare there the woman and husband showed me what they did every day they said that the toddler had hours for everything like what time they eat, how much time they had to play. Esmelda daycare promote language through play time she has book that help the toddlers learn the different animal or the ABC the woman would read the book to toddler by pointing to animal or letter and saying what it was she would also promote language by playing with the toys like counting how many Lego blocks there is or by saying the color of the toy right now. Esmelda daycare is not fully completed with all the material the toddlers need they are in process, but still not being a fully completed daycare you can see that the women and the husband take really good care of children when I was there as she was taking to me if the children need something she would stop and put attention to what the children need instead of just keep taking to me and ignored the child. Compare to the second observation did where each children age group has his own in Esmelda daycare see has all the children together he also has the toy room apart where they just go play when is play time and can’t go in until is play time again.…

It is important to evaluate whether or not the EYPP is making a difference to the children who need it the most. In the early years observations take place to assess where a child currently is working within according to the EYFS. This is where a good relationship between the setting and family would make a difference. A knowledgeable key person will know their key child’s starting points and will be able to track their progress through their assessments. In May 2015 OFSTED began including children receiving EYPP in their inspections.…

There was a bin that had different compartments filled with form blocks while supporting himself on the bin with his left hand and tummy, he was grabbing the blocks with his right hand from the bin closest to him and then placing them in the compartment in a further compartment. I noticed that while he got to the bigger pieces he began to struggle as well as seemed to give up. Please note: When I was observing and reading this document, I some how missed that we needed two examples. While I was observing the child play, he did not really seem like he needed the much support, however in the observation above it did seem like he was supporting himself on the bin. In terms of a second behavior to record, I am recalling on measure 2 when the…

Spending two and half hours in each classroom, I learned a great deal about early childhood education from ages birth through eight, and the effort and skills that it takes to create a stimulating learning environment. For my infant, toddler, and preschool observations, I spent my hours at the CCC Childcare Center located in our college while for my kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade observations, I spent my time at Casey Park Elementary School. During my observations at the CCC Childcare Center, I learned plenty about the methods and practices that go into early education before primary grades. The preschool classroom really stood out to me because the centers in the classroom were very open ended and filled with lots of manipulative for…
