Why are so many people reluctant to change in the workplace? In today’s society, constructive changes are needed in the workplace because employees are constantly looking for more creative and innovative ways to become more efficient and successful. New technology and initiatives are constantly flourishing daily and we must learn how embrace diverse culture, people, and other opportunities. Therefore, as a new director of a state agency, one has encounter many challenges and obstacles concerning some discontent in the organization about the hiring and promotion practices of the agency. In order to alleviate fear and discontent within the organization as new director, one has to examine the dimensions of diversity in multifaceted forms and develop …show more content…
Race is defined as the physical attributes in which people are categorized by the complexion of their skin and other hereditary features of a specific group. However, race is not the only way we can identify people in terms of diversity; it is one of many components of classifying different racial ethnicities in our society. In the workplace, racism can affect employees to feel some discontent in an organization if matters are handled quickly and efficiently. While working as s state director, managing diversity will involve cultural sensitivity and the ability to internalize other people’s differences and similarities. One of the benefits of managing diversity can be connected to cultural diffusion within the workplace. Cultural Diffusion deals with sharing various beliefs, cultures, languages, and other customs around people in random settings.
