In the film Endless Love, directed by Shana Feste, the father of a young girl pressures her into becoming a doctor, leaving ear her with little to no social life. This causes her to act out, and brings up problems in her relationship with her father (Endless Love). Parents need to stop planning out every detail in their child's life because they will just be resented for it. Children start to rebel when their parents become too controlling over their lives. This causes issues in the relationship between the parent and the child, often ruining it. In the novel "Fahrenheit 451," Ray Bradbury writes about a peculiar young girl names Clarisse who experiences life differently than people her age. She is very observant of her surroundings like the grass, moon and people while walking down the street (Bradbury,6-7). Clarisse is able to have a deeper understanding of life because of this. This is a great example of why children today should have more life experiences in order to understand ideas on a deeper level. An important way children are able to learn from these experiences is by becoming unattached from their parents. In her article, Marano says, "The perpetual access to parents infantilizes the young, keeping them in a permanent state of dependency" (Marano, 22). Parents do everything for their children, therefore, children do not feel the urge to become unattached from them and develop independency. If this nation wants to become a stronger one with less wimps, children must let go of their parents a little. By doing this, they will learn to think and act on their own in a more mature and adult way in their everyday
