Executive Summary Female students at Rutgers University often are neglected when looking for an open community of women to reach out or relate to. All women face problems such as the gender pay gap, student loans, reproductive rights, violence against women, LGBTQ rights, and women in leadership. These hardships are often looked over or silenced among society. Some assume, for example, that the pay gap exists because women choose to have lower-paying jobs.…

I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

I would get permission of the authorities, and go talk to a hospital and see if they are interested in this project. Also, I think once a year, we could send care packages to veterans, and wounded soldiers. I think this would be a great service for those fighting for our country. If this is a possibility, I would try to go to an organization that sends donations to our soldiers, and ask them if they would want to go about this project. I would try to get donations from various students, and companies with the help of some other members.…

Risks as part of fundraising are certainly of concern to all who embark on a fundraising plan. The Nonprofit Risk Management Center (2003) indicates that there are five ways to reduce risk in fundraising: knowing the donors, understanding a donor’s motivation, establishing clear guidelines, getting expert help when necessary, and being prepared to walk away if the risks outweigh the benefits.
