What three (3) things stood out for you during this module? Specifically, what are the most significant things that you learned in this module? After completing module 2: A Model For Care, many things have sparked my curiosity that I have previously never known. When I think of forensic nursing, I often think of a coroner at crime scene collecting evidence. Jails and correctional facilities were not something that originally came to mind. During this model I learned that forensics merely refers to an area of the criminal law and not necessarily one specific region but multiple. I overall got a sense of what it truly means when we talk about forensic nurses and their major roles in the correctional and healthcare facilities. In addition, I discovered how difficult it must be for these nurses to separate their prejudices and biases when working with this group of clients, in this type of environment. Although this is a new area of nursing, I would have never suspected to read something like that, especially after completing this module and reading on how difficult yet important these roles are for nurses. When I think of forensics and nursing, I often think of this prestigious job role and the importance that comes along with it. I understand that these nurses are often forced to come out of their comfort zone in order to help these clients, however, never would I have though this would be considered “last option” as it is something that has sparked my interest completely.
