Symbols are used in many ways, it can symbolize the importance of something, a lesson or have a meaning. In the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, symbols are used to show love. From the effects of the love potion causing mix-ups between lovers. Theseus and Hippolyta representing stability through the beginning to the end. Craftsmen play representing the struggles between Hermia and Lysander are finally over. By looking at the love potion, Theseus and Hippolyta, the craftsmen play, it is evident that symbols in the play highlight the main idea that love never runs smoothly. Love potion was a major symbol in the play, instead of using it in a good way though it was taken advantage of and causes conflicts between the two pairs of lovers. The love potion was applied on the wrong person because of Puck’s mistake. Puck was ordered by Oberon to apply the love potion on a …show more content…
The craftsmen play shows that after all the struggles Lysander and Hermia went through, they are finally together. The craftsmen play just like Lysander and Hermia had some struggles, they have problems with the roles the actors wanted to do, how props will be, how they will get certain items and towards the end, they lost Bottom, but at the end they were able to present their play during the huge wedding celebration. This represents the celebration between the two lovers of Hermia and Lysander, that with everything they went through from Egues disapproval, running away in the woods to elope but facing some complications because of the love potion, they got to be together because that;s how strong their love is. Just like how the craftsmen play worked so hard to be presented in the wedding celebration, Lysander and Hermia worked so hard to be together. They finally were and got their happy ending, sure they had some problems but they all got passed it and solved
