First, I would like to start off saying that Shakespeare’s plays aren’t all bad.
I mean, they can have some interesting stuff in them. And this is the case for a Midsummer Night’s Dream. Sure, it has some interesting stuff in it, but it’s mostly bad. Well, it’s not necessarily bad, but it’s boring. And when I say boring, I mean boring.

There were some pretty good parts, though. Like when Demetrius falls in love with Helena from a love potion. Or when the two stories come together and make one. Other than that, the play was very boring. The play didn’t have much action, and maybe it’s just me, but I like action.

Prompt One: During A Midsummer’s Night Dream, a play occurs during two of the characters’, Hippolyta and Theseus, wedding. While the play occurs, Theseus supports the ‘bad’ actors, saying that the audience should give them praise for at least trying. This relates to what Shakespeare wants during his play, respect for the actors. Shakespeare is saying that no matter the performance or lack of talent that the actors convey, the audience should respect them and everything they are doing. He wants the theater to be a place of respect and encouragement.…

I walked into the Louis K. Armstrong Theater on February 11, 2018, where the sold-out show was about to begin. The lights went dim, on stage sat a little old woman whose hair was slicked back into a tight bun with a pioneer style dress, that flowed down to her ankles. She stared blankly into the distance while she turned the crank over and over repeatedly. I distinctly remember the props on stage, the large wooden wagon with a huge hay bail set on top accompanying a quaint prairie style house. Looking at the props, I was able to foreshadow that the story being told would take place on a farm.…

In the 1999 movie, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” directed by Michael Hoffman, a girl meets a boy, loses him due to love pollen, and wins him back with the help of fairy magic. Although the plot seems simple, it has multiple elements that it takes from the play and amplifies it so it can sit on the big screen. Therefore, the movie is a good adaptation because it portrays the characters well, conveys the costumes accurately, and makes the play understandable. First of all, “Dream” portrays the characters very well. In the play, Helena is portrayed as an obsessive, ostentatious, and shameless individual.…

If you ever decide to do an entire project in one day, you’re in for a ride. That’s what I learned when I decided that I had enough time in one day to finish my entire individual project. Of course, I think it turned out well, and I spent about 4-5 hours of that day on the art aspect alone, but I feel like there were some things that could have been improved. I feel like it was a good piece of art, but wouldn’t function well as a movie poster, like the project entailed. I read into my idea too much and made too many details that would be hard to pick up to a quick glance; like the kiss on Cyrano’s cheek, or the quill through his heart.…

In A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, there are two prominent settings with opposing forces that are central to the context of the play. These two different settings explain Shakespeare’s underlying messages and themes that he wanted to convey to his audience. The setting the readers are introduced to first, Athens, is meant to represent the harshness of the real world, while the other main location, the forest, has a more lovable and happier notion.
