Many characters have mentioned dreams throughout the play. The theme of dreams recurs mostly when characters try to explain weird events in which these characters are involved, for example, “I have had a dream, past the wit of man to say what dream it was. Man is but an ass if he go about to expound this dream,” (pg.135) Bottom says, It is impossible to predict the magical things that have affected him as anything but the result of sleep. Through this, people can see the Shakespeare was also interested in the actual workings of dreams of how the events are able to occur without any explanations. Puck, one of the characters in the play told the readers not to be offended by the play because it is just simply a dream. He quotes from the play, “That you have but slumbered here, While these visions did appear (pg. 171).” This quote expresses the thoughts for the dreamlike atmosphere throughout A Midsummer Night’s Dream and casts the play as a magical dream in which the audience can all share in
