A Midsummer Night's Dream Comparison

In literature, William Shakespeare is well-known for his famous works like; Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, All’s Well and That Ends Well, and much more. The plays, ¨ A Midsummer Night's Dream, A Mid-Semester´s Daydream and Twelfth Night, ¨ each show love, society/law, and friendship, while simultaneously contrasting. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare ” is about love, magic, and fantasies. It symbolizes the difficulties of love and realization of dreams. “ A Mid-Semester’s Daydream by Michael Ruscoe ” is a modernized version of “ A Midsummer Night’s Dream, ” in which high school students play the characters in Shakespeare’s original version of the play. In “ A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare”, Hermia and Helena showed a great friendship. “ Lysander and I are running away. Once I am gone, Demetrius will surely return to you. Hermia hugs her friend. ” This quote from the play means Hermia wants her friend, Helena, to be happy. In “A Mid-Semester’s Daydream by Michael Ruscoe”, Dominic and Mia’s friendship turns into a jealous rage between Heather and Dominic. “ Dominic : The dance. Hey, that’s a great idea. Mia, what are you doing tonight? Then how about going with me to the dance tonight ? You and me on a date. ” This quote is stating that Dominic is using Mia’s friendship to make Heather jealous. In “ Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare ”, most of the relationships are friendships. “ What country is this, friend? Good friend, lead on! Go beg him to find some humor in this. ” This quote means friendship plays a huge role for its morals. Friendship contrasts in each play because in the first play, “ A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, the friendship is only limited to two people, Helena and Hermia.
