Love And Love In A Midsummer Night's Dream

Shakespeare, like any other writer, has a few key themes that he prefers to incorporate within many of his literary works. One play that he has weaved the theme of love in, is A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Though this story is a bit light hearted than most of Shakespeare’s works, it still has a problematic couple that love each other passionately. Something that I have noticed about Shakespeare is that he enjoys creating characters that are imperfect by making them a captive to human emotion, in this case, the emotion is love, since it makes people act irrationally yet it also soothes their soul. Love in A Midsummer Night’s Dream has many different aspect to it; at first there is a few problems regarding love and marriage which later turns into pleasantry and playfulness (Birmingham). These two contrasting feelings regarding love summarizes how Shakespeare feels about that emotion in particular, love can either build or destroy.

The marriage of three couples is a very amusing and pleasant event that celebrates the joining of two souls. Other pleasant factors that are a result of love include the fairy King and Queen resolving their troubles concerning the Indian boy; this fixation of the relationship solves lots of problems within the human world like crops growing strong and healthy, cows and other animals gaining fertility, and the weather becoming more reasonable and season appropriate. “By their increase, now knows not which is which: And this same progeny of evils comes From our debate, from our dissension; We are their parents and original.(Shakespeare)” This turn of events show that love in another realm is a lot stronger than just feelings, it can change the world around you and can affect others negatively or positively; though in this case, love changes the outcomes of
