A Metaphor Of Reality In The Film Forest Gump

Decent Essays
Someone's opinion shouldn't be your reality. It is necessary for you to have your own dream and to achieve it. Break the barrier that people set for you. Break your own goal. Show people that you can do more than the minimum, that you can achieve greatness. The movie "Forest Gump" shows a metaphor where Forest Gump's leg braces fall of after him running away from the bullies, or the negative energy in his life. He broke the barrier and pushed himself. His friend Jenny also helped him with breaking his barrier by being one of the few people who believed in what he could accomplish. It is possible for you to make your dream a reality, no matter how big or small.

It is almost inconceivable to some people that they could ever reach the goal of being successful and comfortable in the United States, but that has never stopped anyone from trying their hardest to achieve this feat. The meaning of the American Dream varies for each person and therefore the road to someone accomplishing his American Dream can differ greatly. These alternate perceptions based on the person can lead to one person believing he has failed in his pursuit of the American Dream, while another may be convinced that he has accomplished…

Everything has a meaning or at least a purpose that helps everyone work toward a goal. Like in the novel The Great Gatsby, a green light on Daisy’s dock that Gatsby always gazes upon is a great meaning to him and most of the characters in the book. It symbolizes an unattainable dream or like a hazy future that one must work toward to gain that goal. F. Scott Fitzgerald places the green light there to bring hope not just for him but for others who also read the book that what to reach a goal.…

Being successful is not up to anyone else, only oneself. It 's up to what they do and no one else’s decision. Don 't listen to someone who tells another that there are things they need to succeed and that they will never be able to reach their goals and become successful. They determine what they need to do and how to do it. "There are new lands, new men, new thoughts.…

Forrest Gump Forrest Gump a film that seems to be about an eternal love that survives throughout all the unexpected events in life, just as you would expect a romantic film to be about. As the film starts you see Forrest waiting for a bus you still don’t know why he is there, but as he tries to make conversation with a woman that seats next to him his story starts. As mentioned by Tim Roemer, ”The American dream is based on perception on the way someone imagines how to be successful” (613). People in today’s society believe that the American dream is not attainable, contrary to popular belief I do believe that the American dream is a possibility. While some skeptics believe this so-called dream has passed, the American dream is possible by making the right connections, and having the desire be great. One of the first things that we must do in order to live and attain the American dream is to make the right connections.…

Dreams can range from small, daily goals to crazy, seemingly impossible ambitions, but they can so easily be squashed by anyone unbelieving; however, as a child, any dream is accepted, and, if you're lucky, it seems as if there is no limit- not even the sky. When I was a child, I looked up to my teacher in second grade because she made me feel as if I was worth something, and that I will truly be able to make the world a better place, since any dream I had was achievable. She inspired me so much that I am getting my degree to be just like her, simply for that reason- to make a difference, and be the adult, the personal cheerleader, that every kid needs for support, even if they have no one else who believes in…

Symbolic thinking or symbolism is a is a technique that uses symbols such as words and pictures to represent a concept. Forrest’s mother used symbolism to help Forrest understand important life lessons and concepts. The first example of Mrs Gump using symbolic thinking to explain a concept was the quote “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get”. Mrs Gump chose this example as it represents that life contains a lot of unexpected things and that you never know what’s going to happen next whether it’s positive or negative. The second example of Mrs Gump using symbolism to teach Forrest a lesson was when she states “put the past behind you before you move on”.…

Dreaming big and being realistic are two different types of opinions people may have. Dreaming big can make you a more successful person because you’re always trying to achieve something bigger and sometimes you get more than what you expected. Although some people say that being realistic can get you what you want, dreaming big can get you more than what you expected. For example, when I was in fifth grade at that time my goal was to graduate and go to the Junior High. Even though I wasn’t the smartest in my class.…
