Which brings us to depression and grief, presented by Tiffany. Tiffany had been battling depression since before her husband died. However, the way it presented itself changed drastically after he passed away. Before, Tiffany says she was very depressed and had no interest in sex—which is common in depression cases. According to the movie, he went to Victoria Secret to buy lingerie to try and spice up their marriage. On his way home he stopped to help someone on the side of the road an ended up getting hit. As well as this matter, the husband is presented to not understand what she is facing, thus highlighting the emotional isolation she felt on more of a personal level. Seeing as she belonged to a branch of Christianity which accepts all the children God concedes them, she had a great deal of responsibility regarding her role as both a mother and a housewife. Her husband, Rusty who worked with NASA, did not spend time in the house helping his wife with his infants whatsoever. As a result of all the work she had thrust upon her, Andrea submerged into a state of insanity.…

It was easy for me to see that Baluta is constantly struggling with hardship and trying to overcome the tragedy of his past. I immediately sympathized with Baluta and wanted him to prevail, however, Tiffany was a different story. Like Baluta my first opinion of Tiffany was that she did not live in the real world and that she was quite pompous, but after some thinking I realized that I know nothing about Tiffany other than the fact that she has a nice house and wants her walls to match. Tiffany could be undergoing any number of problems and as a reader I am simply not made aware of them.…
