David didn’t want to hear it. “Go do it in the woods,” he said. It would take at least half an hour to walk me home, and he had no intention of giving up such a shining stretch of time just because his little brother had to take a dump.
“I can’t!” I said, shocked by the idea. “I won’t be able to wipe!” “Sure you will,” Dave said. “Wipe yourself with some leaves. That’s how the cowboys and Indians did it.” (King, 30)

He writes his memoir with great honesty and passion. He gets straight to the point and helps the reader truly understand the truth behind the writing. I think he is a selfless writer and writes the perfect words each time for his readers to be interested in what his books talk about. King writes, “Move too fast and you risk leaving the reader behind, either by confusing or by wearing him/her out.” (King, 221). In this quote, Stephen King shows how he writes with detail to keep the reader intrigued in what they're reading. He does this in order to be a successful and selfless writer as well as a best selling author. Most people in this world are different in who they are from their profession to their everyday self. We have discussed Stephen King as a writer now we will discuss him as a person. As a person, I believe he is very honest and hardworking. After recovering from alcoholic problems, King guided himself to become a world known writer and learn from his addiction. King writes, “By 1985 I had added drug addiction to my alcohol problem, yet I continued to function… Silence isn’t what that part is about. It began to scream for help in the only way it knew how, through my fiction and through my monsters.” (King, 96). This was King’s escape route from the pressure and dependency in his life was writing. It encouraged him to put words down on paper, which helped him to continue to be in the right mind. King mentions to read as many books as possible, he has done this, which makes him very intelligent also from his wife, and struggling with pain in his

In chapter 15 page 155, Krakauer shares his feelings about the actions that McCandless made. He reflects how his experience made him realize that humans usually dream about having the weirdest things in life. These dreams don’t usually get accomplished because they are so extreme and we never dream of something that can easily be obtained. However, he notes that there are some that believe that our dreams are waiting for us somewhere and if we never reach that place, we will never achieve our goal. Similar to Chis, they believe that if they escape their society, they will be a step closer to achieving their dreams.…

He gets descriptive! In one paragraph he reads to the clergymen, “I doubt that you would so warmly commended the police force if you had seen its dogs sinking their teeth into unarmed, nonviolent Negroes.” It is sentences like this that capture the reader’s attention, and persuades the audience to keep reading, simply because of the emotional appeal they get from it. Although I liked King’s letter best when compared to Thoreau’s piece, Thoreau did have rather intriguing ideas in his writing that I found interesting. Overall, both pieces were powerful and still connect to society today.…
