Social media has only been around for two decades. It’s hard to imagine a world without social media. In today’s society, we use social media for variety of purposes. To make new friends, to stay up-to-date with news and current events, to fill up spare time, to share opinions, and to find entertaining content. However, many people are misusing social medias such as Facebook, Tweeter, Snapchat etc. In this paper, I am a marketing officer at a medical university. I wrote an article about upcoming residents of the university and I am preparing to interview Dr. Gray who is a resident. I googled her to gather some information about her and I found her Facebook page, which contained some inappropriate photos and comments. This paper will provide some actions I took to address and resolve the situation.
Ethical Decision Making
Although there is nothing wrong with using Facebook or having Facebook profile, Dr. Gray’s Facebook page would defiantly be an issue that warrants my attention because of her photos, captions, and comments on her page which indicate that she is a partier. For example, if Dr. Gray displays her employer’s name on her page and her profile is not private, everyone will be able to see the type of person she is outside of work and those people might judge the company based her image. I defiantly will be concern for any of my employees to have such inappropriate Facebook photos and comments.
