From two-thousand two, to two-thousand sixteen the concussions rates in the National Football League have increased. Since two-thousand sixteen until present day, the rates have dropped eleven-point three percent. That means fewer players are actually being concussion or fewer players are stepping forward and admitting they think they have, or have a concussion. The National Football League is doing a lot to try and de-crease the concussion rates. Since two-thousand three, the league has added forty-two rules to protect the players. Constantly the league is adding more rules. One of the forty-two rules to try and prevent concussions was every team could only have a certain amount of full contact practic-es. The players are just as big and bad. Thirty-six percent of college athletes have a history of multiple concussions. In fact, a lot of players will not tell the doctor if they feel like they may have a concussion, just to continue to play. However, if you keep playing with a concussion, it can not only get worse, but also double or even triple your recovery time. In May of two-thousand fourteen, the "Nation Col-legiate Athletic Association announced that the United States Department of Defense and NCAA are coming together to donate thirty million dollars to fund the most comprehensive clin-ical study of concussion and head impact exposure ever conducted" (NCAA). The study will give assessments to more than thirty-seven thousand students, and repeats to those who have a concussion.
