A & M Personal Statement

Decent Essays
I am an excellent ambassador of aggie values because a few of my main objective every day is to keep an open mind and to be conscious of the people around me so that I can truly soak in each moment. This allows me to keep a bilateral chain of respect between me and those I interact with. I also aim at not only meeting but also surpassing expectations and goals others have for me everyday, thusly raising the bar for excellence higher and higher. The experience of being an aggie and really learning what its like to live with integrity, doing what’s right and following through on my word, is something I will forever be extremely thankful to Texas A&M. I try to give back and pay it forward and I know I can do just that through the A&M Qatar Spring

I began my educational journey at Georgia State University as an enthusiastic pre-medicine major with a very unrealistic goal of taking on the world. I told myself I would sacrifice anything to become a doctor, including accepting the possibility of never having children due to how hard it would be for me to spend quality time with them. I constantly worried about the finances required for my education, if my parents had the necessary funds to pay their bills, and much more. As far as my academic performance, I was never satisfied with my science grade point average. I felt inferior to my classmates who seemed to absorb and comprehend information at a faster rate in comparison to me.…

I liked this because it forced me to push myself and put me around others that also dedicated their time to academics.…

For the majority of my life before coming to Texas A&M, I knew that I had to figure out a way to get here. Getting a college education would be my escape route to deviate away from becoming a low income family like my mother and her previous generations. My mother did the best she could to take of her three children by herself, but like many single parent households she struggled to do so. Due to my mom being the sole bread winner, there was often not enough money to maintain our household. I remember many days when we were only able to eat one meal a day that consisted either of half a chicken sandwich shared between my sister and I, or just a pack of saltine crackers.…
