While the writer is clearly concerned for future generations of students and is attempting to persuade readers against over using technology in the classroom, there is one other factor that should be taken into consideration. The essay had been written for a college class so the original intended audience was her professor and also possibly her classmates depending on whether or not her class presented their essays in some fashion. This might have influenced her writing by giving her reason to be more sympathetic towards whichever side her professor was in favor of with the intent of it being graded more leniently.
