Ishmael Beah in his book really explained the situation of things that he went through at early age of his life especially at 12, when he was dragged to the war front as a child soldier, which he never thought of in life, in fact the biggest lesson I learned in this book is that nothing is permanent in this world, we are living in the world of dynamism where changes happen every moment and whatever we care for can be easily taken away from us without any notice, …show more content…
There is no gain saying that Ishmael Beah’s lifestyle had turned upside down because, he never thought he could handle gun and be killing fellow human being and this could be seen and heard when he said “some people tried to hurt us to protect themselves, their families and communities” The necessity of killing to survive was a sad and unfathomable reality to me. The book also explained the effects of brainwashing which led to hatred and anger which led to guiltless killing, A Long way gone described the psychology or terror and war perfectly well. Ishmael Beah’s showed in his writing, the solid background and the type of home training he received which would have helped him in life, when he mentioned the virtue which his grandmother has instilled him when she told him that he needs to be a moon rather a sun in life, though both are good and gives lights but one is more peaceful and pleasant than
