The harsh memories and environment they have been through will never live them. They go through different stage of depression. Some kill themselves somes mind goes numb. War is hell it is never the solution for anything. In the book the author says “ War is hell but that's not half of it because war is also mystery and terror (page 80).” He basically shows his missed feeling about the war. This shows the reality of the soldiers in the vietnam war. This book is written based on this quote. They were drafted to war with no experiences, had no chance to experience life. They were in the middle of an intense war with full of fear. This quote shows the felling of soldiers change everyday, every hour. It's hard to think how they went through in so young age terrified, constantly living in the fear of death. It is beyond imagination to constantly live in fear of death. The memories, scarce on the heart are the one that will impact you the remaining of your life even if you survive. “ I survived, but it's not happy ending. (Page 61)” . This quote has an ironic meaning. It sum up the book. He says even though he survived the war he died i side. He is just a man with no soul. All his friends are gone some committed suicide, some left town. Nobody was around for his, his memories are killing
