Edgar Allan Poe was an author who wrote countless amounts of gore and Gothic based books; he didn’t exactly have the “perfect” childhood; this influenced his writing. In “The Cask of Amontillado,” Montresor, the narrator, plans to strategically kill Fortunato, his friend, for insults he directs towards him. He lures Fortunato into a catacomb convincing Fortunato that they are going to get wine. Montresor ties up Fortunato and plasters him into one of the rooms in the catacomb.
