In the book Tangerine, Paul’s mother made many choices that changed the story in several ways. There were many occasions where she lied to Paul, and when he found out the truth, it caused a bigger problem. If she told Paul the truth from the beginning, there wouldn’t be such a big problem, but she waited until Paul found out. I believe that Mrs. Fisher wants to do good with Paul, but a lot of her choices lead to bad impacts. What do you mean?’ "You told them I'm handicapped! You told them I'm visually impaired!’ "Darling, you are. I just told them the truth.’ "That's not the truth. I can see! Don't you know that? Why did you fill out that stupid form when you know I can see? You saw me play in Houston. You saw me make thirty saves in one game! Did I look visually impaired then?’" (P. 63-64) When Paul was being registered for Lake Windsor Middle school, his mom mentioned his eyesight and filled out an IEP for him which lead to Paul getting kicked off the team. Literally A positive choice Paul’s mom makes is when she makes the choice to let Paul move schools to Tangerine Middle after he gets kicked off Lake Windsor’s soccer team. On the way to Tangerine Middle she supposedly loses his IEP. "What's to decide?’ I faced down Mom and Dad in the middle of that gymnasium. "Mom, you ruined my life at Lake Windsor Middle when you turned in that IEP. This is your chance to un-ruin it! Dad, I don't mind if you never pay any attention to me for the rest of my life, just give me this chance! I won't complain about Erik, ever. Just give me this chance. Both of you. I want to go to Tangerine Middle School, and I want to go with no IEP.’” This decision effects Paul for the rest of the book, causing him to be on the soccer team, make new friends, and even the fact that two people get arrested, and one person gets
