Written by Marie Arana, “Cellophane” is a novel uncovering the story of the Sobrevilla family and Don Victor’s adventures in creating paper and cellophane in the middle of the Amazon. Fascinatingly, enthralled with the idea of paper and cellophane Don Victor moved to the amazon to use the natural elements of the jungle to create these beautiful substances. Throughout the story, the author develops each of the characters and the interrelations between them all. Each character has a great deal of hardship to deal with regarding relationship and their past. In the first part entitled A Plague of Tongues, the author depict the brutal and unveiling honesty that overcomes the Sobrevilla family and the people around them.
