A separate peace literary theory is psychology. A separate peace is the story of two young boys who are friends. The two boys attend school together. Gene is very intellectual and brain smart as Finny is athletic and popular. Although each boy has their own form of talent, they want what one another has. Finny gets away with a lot of things because of his athletic ability.

Throughout the story the boys go through many phases of remorse. Gene was responsible for Finny shattering his leg and being unable to play sports. Although Finny believes it was an accident, Gene knows the true facts about how it was broke and has to live with that for his lifetime. The doctors told finny he’d be unable to play sports forever.
