“Hey, Chen. When is this class over?” I whispered, as the teacher is teaching in front of the platform. My deskmate Chen took a glance at me and said, “Don’t keep asking me the same question every class.” After a few minutes, I would ask another one, “Hey, Chen. Do you want to get some snacks after this class? I’m so hungry.” Usually, Chen didn’t answer me at the first time. And I kept asking, “I will buy you a drink if you come with me”. At this moment, I would hear a word, “deal”. This is the common conversation between me and Chen. In the past, I would try my best to get away from doing something which is related to study. Why I did this? The answer was simple. I hated to study. But now, I understand why I hate to study when I’m looking …show more content…
According to Amanda Ripley, who is the author of a book named “The Smartest Kids in the World: And How They Got That Way”, in the section “What Makes the ‘Smartest Kids In The world’?”, “Hagwons are the Korean word for after-school tutoring academy” (3). In Korea, people take guidance from the teacher seriously. There are 70 percent of Korean students will take this course after they graduate. Because they will think that once the teachers get the proper guidance for training, their students can get a better education from them. From my point of view, this example shows us the vital role of proper guidance in the whole educational system. In fact, in my high school, our headmaster stated that only the teachers who have their own proper guidance to the students can be the prominent teachers. But how can the teachers get it? The answer is that teachers need to take part in the teacher’s training like Hagwons. They need to accept the professional training which is specialized for the teachers so that they can create their unique ways of teaching. However, as I know, there are few schools that can encourage their teacher to do the further development in China. They don’t have extra funds to do these investments. Nonetheless, I strongly encourage the schools that can give some funds to support their teachers to accept further development.
