During the Industrial Revolution, another chore was added to women’s list, which is work outside of the home. The articles I read was a deliberation between the two authors, Nancy Cott and Gerda Lerner, on whether or not the industrial revolution created more opportunities for women. According to Nancy, the industrial revolution did create more opportunities for women as compared to women’s life before the revolution. On the other hand, Gerda disagrees with Nancy’s argument. She believes the opportunities women had during the revolution was nothing more than a phase and was only opened to young single women for certain careers.…

    1. Why is it important for educators to know about systematic learner variability? It is important for educators to know about systematic learner variability because the concept of the "Illusory Average Student" does not exist; "cognitive neurosceince has shown that there is no average student" (DL Series No. 1, 2012). Therefore, it is important for educators to know that student ability varies widely both within and between subjects and concepts for students, and even more importantly, that this variability is normal (DL Series No. 1, 2012). Finally, once you learn about learner variability you can begin to think systematically about learner variability, and from there you can begin to predict for this variability in your lesson plans…

The article I have chosen is titled, “The Critical Importance of Retrieval for Learning,” with the study conducted and written by, Jeffrey D. Karpicke and Henry L. Roediger III. It has been said that learning is considered complete if a student can provide the correct answer to a question. The basic idea of the experiment was to have students learn foreign vocabulary words through the process of repeated study-test trials. The goals of their conducted study were one, to examine the long-standing assumptions tied to the results of repeated studying and testing and their effects on learning. Second was to examine their test students’ assessments of their own learning.…

Learning Curves The learning curve, also referred to as the experience curve, is a simplistic, yet powerful, estimating technique which has become an essential concept/tool used for strategic planning within project management (Kerzner, 2013; Lieberman, 1987; Linton & Walsh, 2013). Bailey and Gupta (1999) suggested that the learning curve should probably be called the “forecasting curve” because it is primarily used to forecast the future expenditure of project resources (as cited in McKee & McKee, 2013). This paper will briefly explain the core components of a learning curve analysis, as well as discuss how it can be utilized in project management.…
