Daniel Goleman stated that a leader’s singular job is to get results. But even with all the leadership training programs and expert advice available, effective leadership still eludes many people and organizations (Goleman, 2000). Michael Dell, Richard Wagnor, and Warren Buffet are three highly successful CEOs with strong leadership styles that has strongly influenced their companies. Michael Dell has been named the youngest CEO of all the major computer companies and has held this position since 1984. This is the longest tenure held than anyone else has in the industry of computer companies. He is one of the wealthiest men in America, owning 14 percent of the company. At a young age, Michael Dell became very interested in computers and his interest soon became a hobby which turned into a business opportunity. He studied and learned as much as he could about PCs by taking them apart and rebuilding them with enhanced components. He was a delegator. His philosophy was to only but companies that already have first-rate managers. By doing so, he will not need to micromanage because the senior management has an established record of accomplishment. He strongly believed in rewarding his managers for their individual success (Heberling & Houghton, 2002). Buffett employs a hands-off management style because he knows that people perform best when given autonomy. Buffett 's style works because he buys companies with experienced CEOs who are self-sufficient and focused on profitability. Buffett 's philosophy: get out of their way and let them run their business.
