When I was ten year old and travel outside oversea to Asia with my parents to see their families and friends was a cultural shock to me. The first thing I notice was all the people on the street looking for food or a place to sleep. For me, I did not understand what was going on or what was happening while my parents were not fazed at all. Without thinking, I gave the person some of my food because this was completely new to me and I thought it was better they had some food instead of starving to death. After I gave my food away, instantly my parents told me not to do that and we quickly leave the restaurant. For some reason, I saw the gesture as humble and helpful but my parents show it as the person ask for more if they saw us again. This experience has always remained in my memory and even today, I try to be as helpful but also remain cautious because they might always come back for more.
