A kingpin for a father, a coke head for a mother, and a single wide trailer for a home, I always knew I had to make it out. Not much is expected from a girl who runs behind her brothers all day, because their mom lets them do whatever they want. Nor does anyone expect much from that same girl whose father has been out of her life since the age of four. It wasn’t that I was grown, or wanted to be, however when you see and know what I knew at a young age it changes you. I remember when “my daddy is on vacation” changed to “my daddy is in jail, for selling drugs. He a kingpin! It was so cool to my neighborhood friends.
