This book is a story about a family going on a bear hunt. Gamble and Yates (2013, p. 69) explain that narrative structure of a story contains two elements such as the story plot and how the story has been conveyed. It didn’t matter which we used so long as it worked” (McCloud). The author is again reiterating his appreciation for the usage of images and text in literature. Not only that, but he hints toward people’s root of communication through a generalization. McCloud knows that not until after a person has mastered the fundamentals of communication, learned when young through picture books incorporating minimal text, does that person begin to effectively hone and utilize one medium. It takes usage and familiarity of illustrations and words for a person to feel content with just one form of expression.…

The writer named Charles Warner writes it creatively in his text, "How I Killed a Bear" in the ways that portray the stimuli. Most of the writer descriptions are targeted at keeping up appearances and saving face toward the readers as well as the people who stayed close to him, as the narrator desires. However, his descriptive words those occurrences in the situation of the bear attacks, and events that occur before it in flashbacks, are all in masks to hide his insecurities and shortcomings to prove that he is a man. In some occasion, he uses irony to cover up the fact that he is self-hatred due to his weakness to be honorable or protective of himself.…

New forms of literature reveal themselves to the world everyday. In many ways, they are all different from each other; the style, the composure, the tone just to name a few. However, one major item unites them all, this item being a integral message hidden in the shadows and cracks of the piece of art. This is often accomplished through the use of symbolism and imagery, two crucial items which, when combined, transform the mind of the reader to Rembrandt’s white canvas. Few novels are able to transcend time using their messages, and Zora Neale Hurston’s…

The period of modernism in the literature has brought the new forms and the new ways of expressing the ideas. With the development of the imagist movement in the poetry, the free verse and the clarity of expression as well as clear language came to the foreground. The poem “The Red Wheelbarrow” by William Carlos Williams is one of the best examples of true imagist poem since it places value on the simplicity of the created image and on the imagery in general, instead of prioritizing some abstract ideas and sophisticated words. The most important point in the poem is the picture of the farm that arises in front of the reader and is created by only 14 words. This simple and still engaging scene on the farm is, however, more than just a description of the rainy day, considering the sense that the author has placed in his visual images and the form of the poem.…
