Over the years I have always been asked that one question which probably everyone coming out of their family's highly established occupation would have been asked- "why haven't you taken up law?" As Sherman Alexie in his essay "The Joy of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me" narrates that he learned to read with a superman comic book, I realized that I was interested in space when I was amused by flying objects. As a child, I was fortunate to find my interests at a tender age of about seven years and haven't given up since then to pursue my interests as that with Alexie's. This essay tries to explore my life from childhood to present day and gives an impression as to how the childhood …show more content…
Some of my friends always weren't having good terms with me as I was one of the very few people in class to be my toes to answer the questions posed by the professors, which I feel is out of pure jealousy (or) due to a problem in their attitute. In his essay, Alexie describes his experiences with his classmates. I can imagine myself in the shoes of Alexie when describing my experiences with my classmates. They were very similar to that of Alexie. They could easily catch up a topic, especially on entertainment and have a complete post mortem of it but when asked a question in class they were silent and they always wanted to escape the question in class they were silent and they always wanted to escape the questions from the teacher. In a similar way I have always tried to relate my life with the flying objects and spaces. Space is infinite and so are the dreams of a person. A person's dreams at any point of time cannot be subjected to a finite time and space. His dreams can vary over a wide spectrum and many tiny elements constitute a dream, which is very similar to that of space. Space is infinite and all the objects existing in it are very tiny. There are thousands and thousands of these tiny objects which make up the space but still it is endless to explore which is similar to that of dream. As I grew up, I ended up drawing similarities between space and my day to day observations. The most fascinating part I realized was that, at any point of time we are all a part of much bigger element and that cannot be completed with only one of us. Taking the example of how Alexie drew similarities between paragraph and his day to day observations, it can be easily understood that why I have been so much amused in space. A family is a bigger picture and the members of the family combine to complete it. In the same way a society can be defined and also on a much bigger picture a country and ultimately the
