Most of the negative comments came about when it was revealed to the world that she had gotten temporary lip fillers. After a few months of telling her fans time and time again that it was just the way she outlined her lips and the colors she used, she finally admitted to having plastic surgery. In an interview with E! News she stated, “I have always insecure about her lips and I was not ready to talk to reporters yet because they would tear me apart” (“Kylie Admits What?!”). Because she is always in the spotlight, people should understand why she was nervous to explain herself because she knew there would be ridicule. Before her confession, some teens became so obsessed with her look (which they thought was natural at the time) that they attempted to enlarge their lips to grotesque proportions, by sucking on a shot glass, to try to emulate her and get the plump lips that she has. More negative than positive things are shown in the media about Kylie. She is shown in negative ways because the media has the power to make people who are not educated about a topic or a person think what they want about them. Kylie Jenner has done some great things that are not noted, because they are not seen as “scandalous” or “newsworthy”. I learned that the media has great influence on someone’s judgement of a person. She has donated to charities, and done great deeds for others, yet people still tend to focus more on what she looks like rather than seeing the good in her. The media just sees her as a spoiled 18 year old girl who has had plastic surgery and they portray her this way because it gains more attention from viewers, rather than focusing on her accomplishments, which seems to attract less attention. After writing this, I can take away that a lot of times the media can twist stories and can mislead people. People need to educate themselves about a person and do research before they judge them based on what they see in the media In retrospect, it is especially difficult for a woman to always be picked apart, and to not be given credit for who she is behind the
