I considered myself as an organized person at work, but I thought that the staff there were more organized than me. To make my job easier, I organized clients’ folders in alphabetical order by their last names so when they asked me about their case, I would know where to pull the folder from. Another thing that I noticed while being an intern at ILCM was that answering clients’ questions was an everyday task. After reading immigration stuff and working there, I was able to provide answers to clients when they have questions regarding immigration. For example, a client might ask about public benefits for immigrant. My answer for this client would be that unauthorized immigrants are ineligible for public benefits and Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) can receive public benefits, but they must wait for the first five years (“Giving the Facts”, 2015).
