Rebekah Joan Boley, age seventeen, lives in Adrian, Michigan. She is one of nine children in her family and an eleven-year veteran of home schooling. She is a member of Fairfield Baptist Church where she sings in the choir and been a puppeteer. She has volunteered for both Habitat for Humanity and for the Lenawee Therapeutic Riding Program. She has also participated for three years in the Southeast division of CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship). She is currently attending the EMT program at LISD Vo-Tech Center.
We tried to meet at two other places for our interview, but unfortunately both were closed, so we finally settled on meeting to talk in the sitting area at The Country Market on Maumee St. in Adrian. I wasn’t sure how the interview would go because the activity in a grocery store is usually very hectic and loud. "Basically, she replied, to see if it was the kind of job I would enjoy and want to do for my life 's work." She assured me that she had pushed herself farther than she ever expected she could. “Prior to my coming here, Bekah stressed, my relationship with God had been struggling. During that week and now beyond, I realize how much I need Him and how many blessings He has given me. So, for me, it was as if that week was a wake-up call. God had been with me every step of the way that week bringing scripture verses to my mind that I had previously learned. The one verse that impacted me the most was Isaiah 41:13; For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” As she shared these things with me, I could see the pride and gratefulness on her face and hear the joy in her voice. I knew her relationship with God was real and unique to that of most teenagers her
