Summary: Personal Worldview Of Organizational Leadership

The purpose of this Integrated Leadership Project (ILP) is to demonstrate the instruction that was learned in this course, how it was integrated and applied in the various areas of organizational leadership. The ILP was an endeavor that was undertaken throughout the program and each chapter represents an overview of the important concepts of each course that were important to me. The following chapters act as a chronicle of the changes in my concept of organizational leadership. I will attempt to demonstrate my definition of leadership, and my critical understanding of organizational leadership principles with applications of leadership principles. A worldview is a perceptual framework that one uses to think, talk, and behave in the world. One 's worldview tends to be a sort of glasses that filters the way things are interpreted by that individual (Opitz, 2005). Since my worldview is based on the conservative Christian paradigm, I filter the way I perceive things through those sets of values which is based on the word of God. Therefore, I believe I am a fallen, sinful human being that has been placed where I am by God 's providence and saved by grace through faith in the completed work of Christ. I believe that the origin of all wrong in the world comes from the curse of sin which is passed down from Adam to all humans today much like a hereditary disease. This chapter deals with three key concepts that were part of the course which dealt with the issue of cultural relativism, the Anderson seven-step decision-making process, and the concept of holiness, justice, and love. Cultural relativism is prevalent in the current postmodern society. It proposes that culture decides what the moral standards are. In other words, when in Rome, do as the Romans do, but this is contrary to the teachings of the Bible. However, Anderson 's seven-step model is a tool that is discussed for decision-making in an ethical dilemma when no absolute answer is available. The concept of holiness, justice, and love are an excellent complement to Anderson seven-step decision-making process. Each of these virtues provides balance for the Christian leader, and act synergistically when all three are applied appropriately. Holiness for the Christian is a single-minded devotion to God and ethical purity. Therefore, Christian ethics should be the same in the workplace as they are in one 's personal life, and as a leader, I must distribute justice with love and compassion (Hill,
