A Huge Privilege Of Independent Study

Independent Study is a huge privilege to be able to partake on. I believe that I deserve to go on the my trip because I am responsible and driven. Another reason that I want to go on this trip is because I do not find interest in the other options that are offered. For AE week I am going to travel to Oregon with my mom to check out colleges to possibly attend after I graduate High School. The colleges that we will be going to see are University of Oregon, Oregon State University, Linfield College, and Pacific University. I also will look at some California colleges such as Humboldt State University and University of Davis. It is still unknown if we will be driving from California to Oregon or if we will jump on a plane at SFO and fly to

Senior year is when everyone really needs to start thinking about where they want to go to college or where they want to start working. On Thursday, October 12th, I took the opportunity to help at the Agua Caliente Casino’s College Fair event, with the intention that I would also see the schools I intend to apply. While at the event, I saw many colleges and universities with their luring stands’ free candies, pens, and informational brochures. Overall, the schools all had something great to offer; whether it was the small class sizes or amazing student abroad programs. Although universities from as far as Hawaii to Oregon may have grabbed my attention – because of its stunning scenery and programs – I restricted my preferences to California schools. In particular, my eyes lit up when I saw UC Irvine, UC Riverside, CSU Channel Islands, – given that I’ve seen some of these see…

These colleges were chose by how I feel will impact my life after college. The University of Nebraska Omaha was my safe in state choice, Colorado State University was my dream college that was out of state, and my most realistic choice was Kansas State University. The University of Nebraska Lincoln is a safe choice because, I would only be an hour away from home, and the tuition price is more reasonable being priced at $19,297. Yet Colorado State University would be my dream college since Colorado is in the top five colleges for veterinary medicine, and the class size seems to be more on the smaller side. Kansas State University would be my most realistic college since the requirements of having a 21 Act and anything over a 980 Sat would be easy enough to succeed in, and my other reason is that the distance from home is only 97.8 miles which is close to two hours.…

Speaking of interdisciplinary study, Bhatia (2004) refers to two disciplines of economics and law and tries to compare the way disciplinary knowledge is structured and communicated in instructional contexts. He argues that: On the face of it, the two disciplines appear to be similar in that both of them tend to reinforce the relationship between theoretical aspects, processes and outcomes. However in a number of other ways, the two disciplines appear to be very different, especially in terms of the rhetorical strategies they employ to construct knowledge. (p. 34)…

During my visit at Mount Aloysius College, I learned that I wanted to attend college after high school. I like the campus, I like the class sizes, and I liked the environment of the campus, but sadly Mount Aloysius College does not offer athletic training at their campus. Later I was able to attend a college fair at Altoona Area High School. During the college fair, I was able to find different colleges that offered athletic training and compare them to best fit the college experience that I was looking…

As a current senior in high school, the time of graduation can be stressful and I am finally figuring out what I want to do with my life. The only reason I was able to do this was because of the great education I have gotten at CAL. I have learned more than just what textbooks and charts can show. I learned about life lessons and without them I do not know if I would be able to say I am academically and emotionally ready for college. I am planning on attending Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.…
