Information Literacy as it Relates to A Highly Unlikely Scenario
A Highly Unlikely Scenario, is a futuristic, unpredictable, and quirky novel about saving the world. Overall, I did not enjoy the book because it was very hard to follow the storyline and confusing terminology. In fact, during the author talk Rachel Cantor claimed she did make up a few of the words, which may explain why I was so confused. However, I did think that the second half of the book was better than the first half because it had story line, and I was able to decipher some of the strange words, and therefore I was able to follow along better. I would not recommend this book to another person to read due to this, and I do not see a purpose to the book. I felt as though

This book was published as a biography by Stewart Easton in 1952. The date of publication is over 50 years ago, so it may also be out of date, but is still a good resource due to what is contained inside of it. It states on the back of the book, “This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.” The publishers tried to keep everything as true to the original documents as much as possible, so the book includes things such as original copyright references, library stamps, markings, and blurred pictures. Certain facets of his life such as different languages he spoke, might help narrow down the language of the manuscript, or if his mother had trouble giving birth, could explain his discoveries about the birthing process as the journal source stated, and each could aid in decoding the manuscript. Easton also wrote dozens of history-related books, as he was a historian and an anthroposophist. He received his education from Oxford University and Columbia University, where he received his PhD. Therefore, since he wrote a bibliography over Roger Bacon coming from a historian’s perspective, I think that he has the qualifications to write an accurate …show more content…
At this time in our lives, it is important to know how to obtain and use information while we are in college. If there is a topic that we need information on, we should be able to find credible resources from reliable databases, and then be able to use it in an ethical manner. This not only aids in a college student’s life now with assignments, projects, and papers, but in the future as an employee. Everyone at some point needs information that they don’t know or have, so being able to find information is important. However, if the information is not credible or accurate, or is used in an unethical manner, then there is no use for the information. Not everything published on the Internet or even written in a book or journal should immediately be trusted. There may be bias, wrong facts, or any other number of issues. Also, even if the information is correct, if it is used in an unethical manner than the information itself could be worthless. Take for example the election in November. Depending on which candidate you support, you may most likely twist or slightly alter the data in order to support your candidate better. Therefore, the use of information literacy is critical in every aspect of our

The responses that I received from this paper exceeded my expectations because I was very astonished that people could comprehend my writing. After taking their comments into consideration, I realized that I might have judged myself too harshly.…

The difference in both of these authors is that Hrabowski does focus some of his argument in helping others benefit from the graduate’s education, and not just letting the education process end once the graduate has earned their job. Both authors do make a point when they talk about how we need to make a wise decision when it comes to deciding where we are going and what we will major in, but Hrabowski elaborates more because he argues that we do not have the resources to make the right decisions.
