The avenue below is lit up by the first rays of the day, shining through a thin layer of grey clouds, like a stained glass window. As Colin packs his last bag, his thoughts are lost in Naya, but soon he will be on the plane and home by the evening. The stormy weather has cancelled his previous flight, but today it’s finally clear. He rested as he sat next to the window. As soon as the plane takes off it startles him and he wakes up asking, “Have we landed?” The flight attendant laughs and says, “No, we are leaving now.” Naya ties her dark brown hair back in a bow leaving a few curls dangling down as she gets ready for the return of Colin. As she sits down in her best dress she clutches a cloth in her right hand, while her thoughts …show more content…
As Naya turns around, her muscles lock in place, froze where she stood. As he leans his tall body casually against the staircase banister their eyes meet and lock while a tidal wave of emotions brings their bodies together in an embracing like no other. Time seemed to stand still as they passionately embraced one another. His flawless skin was like a sheet of well don cloth against hers. There was a softness in his eyes and a gentleness in his smile as he pulled her back to say, “It’s a fine day for dining out, don’t you think?” They both laughed and gathered the rest of the stuff to take …show more content…
She waited, biting her lip in anticipation. Finally, he spoke up, “I look forward to seeing you every day, it’s the only thing that makes me happy and you are my dreams now, not a new business if it doesn’t include you there beside me.” Naya replied, “But this is your chance to have what you wanted and I don’t want to stand in the way of it. If you don’t take it, you may...” he cut her off and said “ Dreams change and people grow, besides if I wait one year I will have the same opportunity, but it will be here instead.” Naya could hardly contain her happiness to hear him say this. She could feel her heart racing in her chest, the blood pulsing fast through her veins. As he took her in his arms tightly she let her lungs fill up with the sweet scent that came off his skin. It felt as though there was never a hole in her chest. As she looked at him she thought only of how she wanted to be with the man behind that beautiful smile that melts her from within. Her heart felt like it was going to swell up and burst through her

All works of literature and art entwine in a common thread that connects the stories by a universal and malleable outline- the Hero’s Journey. Joseph Campbell’s the Hero’s Journey, or the monomyth, applies to all stories to some degree through its 17-stages. The stages divide into 3 major components- separation (the Call to Adventure), initiation (the Trials), and return (the Aftermath and the Return)- that can pertain to individual journeys of self-actualization or endeavors of resolving external conflicts. Every story follows the monomyth’s structure to any extent. All stories can further separate and classify into any category of Ronald B. Tobias’s 20 Master Plots which include quest and adventure, rivalry and underdog, metamorphosis and…

King Arthur and Spiderman are two fictitious characters that are both similar, and dissimilar to each other. In an excerpt from Joseph Campbell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces, he writes about monomyth, which is a twelve step process that is divided into four sections. This represents a continuous cycle that the character in the story must go through in order to complete their journey. King Arthur and Spiderman follow the cycle of the Heroes Journey by events in their lives made parallel to the cycle of the Heroes Journey. King Arthur and Spiderman, although from two different ends of the spectrum, are actually alike, both coming from epic tales of struggles and triumph.…

Sitting at my desk, I stared down at my schoolwork while my mind remained static. Suddenly, I found myself beginning to radiate golden light as my body faded from existence; then before I knew it, I rematerialized out of thin air. This does not happen often, so I was rather confused as I stood atop a cloud, high up in the sky. That is, until I noticed a large, human-like figure appear before me in a holy light. He raised his hands and smiled down at me before bellowing out, “Behold, for it is I; Gabe Newell!”…

The term “hero” has been around since the late fourteenth century; however, the term is of an uncertain origin (Etymology, paragraph 2). Based upon controversial etymology beliefs, Webster’s Dictionary defines a ‘hero’ as an individual that is admired for his or her great acts or fine qualities. According to Joseph Campbell, the author of The Hero with a Thousand Faces, an individual must go through the cycle of the hero 's journey. The life of a real life hero is reflected by the epic literary example “The Hero’s Journey” that is exhibited in the book The Hero with a Thousand Faces; therefore, a hero in today’s world must undergo the same twelve stages that are listed in “The Hero’s Journey.” The hero’s journey is known for telling…

For half of the time on that bus, she had tried to position herself in any way in order for her to comfortably take a nap, however the old overused lumpy seats were essentially impossible to snuggle into.
