Emma and the group of men who were sitting with Patrick follow him out of the tavern and down the docks until they arrive at a gigantic ship. The sides of the hull were lined with cannons so powerful they could punch a hole in a ten inch thick stone wall. The ship's deck was hidden under a wall of ropes and barrels full of exotic fruits. Emma followed the pirates onto the ship the weak smell of salt and seaweed slowly traveled up her nose. The princess watched with awe as the sails which looked like ghosts flying in the night sky were hoisted. The pirates ran around the deck like mad men getting ready for the apocalypse as they prepared to set sail. The anchor was raised, and a strong gust of wind ran into the sails sending the ship away from …show more content…
Servants and guards moved out of his waiting not wanting the king to strike them down as if he was some god. Elizabeth knew she loved Patrick, but she also knew she couldn't put his life and the lives of an entire village in danger. She would do as her father asked, but until she had to preform that dreadful task the princess would find pleasure in the world of dreams. Elizabeth awoke a few hours later and tried her best to enjoy the day without trying to focus on the fact she would soon have to break Patrick's heart. When nightfall came the princess was lead to the stables by fifteen guards and her father. The stable boy had already prepared a horse for her, and he helped the princess onto the saddle even though Elizabeth had been riding horses since she was a child. The king climbed into a carriage which looked like it belong to circus folk, and he and the guards followed Elizabeth to the nearby village. They rode into town no one paying them any attention mostly since the guards were hiding their armor behind huge clothing that they expected would slid down their bodies at any second. The king hopped out of his carriage and left it behind a small shack right behind the tavern. The guards and king walked into the tavern pretending they didn't know who the group of men standing outside were. Emma emerged from behind the tavern and walked over to Patrick. The pirate ran to her and lifted her to the sky as if he was trying to return an angel to heaven. Patrick carefully put the princess back on the ground took her hand and started leading her to his ship. Elizabeth pulled herself free of his embrace causing Patrick to turn around tears beginning

Joseph Campbell's “The Hero’s Journey” describes all the steps of the hero’s journey, from being an ordinary person, to the call for adventure, to the tests all the way to where the protagonist has changed hopefully for the best and has returned home.
